A Rachael Ray Burger Joint Coming to NYC!

Rachael Ray recently attended the American Magazine Conference in Phoenix, hosted by the Magazine Publishers of America. (She is pictured at left with Nina Link, President and CEO of the MPA.)

Media Bistro reports that at the conference, Rachael announced she (as the official Queen of Burgers) plans to open her own burger joint based on her 190 burger recipes:

"We'll rotate them," she said. "Tuna burgers, swordfish burgers, turkey burgers," Ray said, "I like anything you can pick up with your hands - portable food." Ray said she also plans to open fast-food versions of the flagship.

It was hard for me to not publish this story yesterday, but I wanted to make sure it was for real (I always distrust the authenticity of stories published with pictures of Rachael's FHM shoot that are three years old). So, I was happy when confirmation came that it is the real deal. The New York Post reports:

She told Media Ink that she is in talks with restaurateur Nick Matone to open a burger restaurant in New York City sometime in the next year.

"It's a long way from being a done deal, but it's on my to-do list for next year," Ray told Ink as she sipped champagne at the Arizona Biltmore after sharing the Ad Age Launch of the Year honors with Domino, the home shelter magazine from Conde Nast.

She wants the restaurant to feature both eat-in and takeaway service.

On a sidenote, as the Sunday Keynote Speaker at the conference, Rachael was interviewed by People Magazine editor Jess Cagle, who said that she has "obviously become a media mogul." In response, Rachael said: "I don't feel very mogul-y."

  2. Also when I was on the show I got to speak with Rachael afterwards and she told me she was opening a resteraunt in NYC!

  3. How exciting, Jill! TiVo records it every day so I will definitely see you.

Rachael Ray told you that and you didn't clue me in? Shame on you!

  4. Hee hee... she's also starting a childrens charity.

  5. Annie - she doesn't kid around when it comes to burgers.

  6. RR came to my mothers house before she was famous, and made hamburgers!
    What a co-inkydink!
