This Week on Rachael Ray's Talk Show

Well, look who showed up on Rachael Ray's talk show? Oh, yes, The Arrogant One (aka Bobby Flay) decided to grace Rachael's show with his royal presence. I kid - Bobby's not quite that bad. His Boy Gets Grill cookbook is a summer staple for me, so maybe I should cut him some slack. Bobby showed up to help Rachael convince a little boy that men do cook.

Here are the highlights from Rachael Ray's talk show this week. For the recipes from this week's shows, check out the shopping list and the recipe archive. The recipes are listed by category in the order they appear on the show.

Monday: First Ever Make Under. Rachael and Gretta try to convince a woman to tone down her look and Harriette Cole (a life coach) tries to mediate a mother/daughter dispute. After my Birds in a Nest debacle, I need to watch this segment - we get a basic tutorial on cooking eggs. We also get an update on the resolution of the Thanksgiving dinner feud between a woman and her mother-in-law. The Snack of the Day is Laceys Cookies from Desserts on Us.

Tuesday: Torn Between Two Lovers. I don't know about this episode - it treads a little to close to Jerry Springer territory for my taste. Rachael and her dating expert help a woman who is torn between two men. We get to learn how long to keep makeup before tossing it and see a surprise bedroom makeover. Also, how to find the best underwear (huh?). Dinner is a date night meal called the Duke and the Duchess.

Wednesday: Coming-of-Age Dilemmas. The audience shares excerpts from their teenage diaries in order to help a teenager put it all into perspective. Rachael shares recipes for a Sunday Brunch to serve as a school fundraiser. Also, Rachael shares her favorite hostess gift for when a neighbor invites you over.

Thursday: Reinventing Leftover. Who doesn't love recipes for leftovers? Rachael shares some of her recipes to make leftovers "taste like a whole new meal." We also get more footage from Rachael's interview with Gayle King (Oprah's best friend). Cojo stops by with a list of must-have fashion accessories.

Friday: Bobby Flay. After a little boy says "men don't cook," Bobby Flay steps in to teach him a lesson. We also get to learn three things you can do to keep your child safe from bullies (like Bobby Flay?) and we get to hear Lisa Rinna’s backstage stories (I assume from the Dancing with the Stars tour). Finally, Rachael gives us budget-friendly makeup secrets.

Great, now Bobby's got kids working for him:

  1. Men don't cook? That tells me more about the attitudes in that kid's family than I'd like to know. Poor kid!

  3. Look at all the Rachels! And you were here at close to the same time - synchronisity!

I wonder if the kids parent's will be on the show - he had to learn it from somewhere, right?

And I TiVo them all, much to my husband's dismay....

  4. I like Bobby. I know there are rumors about chefs not liking him, and he's supposedly arrogant, but I haven't seen it. ;)

  5. But Cate, it makes the post much funnier if I pick on Bobby.

  6. If you find another variation of birds in a nest I hope you'll post it! The one I use usually works, but I haven't done it in so long!

  10. Ew to Bobby Flay, he's a butt face, and the chefs I know who worked with him agree. He's a self absorbed poopie face.

  13. Haha...the Arrogant One. I don't know why he gives off that vibe (at least to me). Thanks for these recaps. I still have not watched her talk show. But I always watch 30-Minute Meals!

  14. Yuzu - you are welcome! I always have fun writing this post. I marvel at how they always have new and interesting topics (well, except for the torn between two lovers one, but we can't expect good judgment all the time, I guess).

Gee, some of us feel that way about RayRay. *grin*

  16. Kitchen - don't worry. I am an equal opportunity teaser. I pick on Rachael every once in awhile, too!

It's all in good fun here (unlike in other places that shall not be named).
