Rachael Ray Hosts City Harvest Anniversary Party

According to New York Social Diary, Rachael Ray hosted the 25th Anniversary party for City Harvest last night. The event was held at New York City's Cipriani 42nd Street and raised more than $1.1 million.

The evening included recognition of big supporters of City Harvest, including FreshDirect, Hunts Point Terminal Produce Cooperative Market and Tropicana. Some stars in attendance were Broadway legend Bebe Neuwirth, Susan Lucci, and former Trading Spaces host Paige Davis.

City Harvest is an amazing organization that Rachael mentions often on her talk show. According to its website:

City Harvest will rescue 20 million pounds of excess food from all segments of the food industry - including restaurants, manufacturers, wholesalers, greenmarkets, hotels, corporate cafeterias, grocery stores and farms - and deliver it to more than 600 community food programs throughout the five boroughs using a fleet of 16 trucks and volunteers on foot. Each week, City Harvest helps over 260,000 hungry New Yorkers find their next meal.

Rachael discussed City Harvest with Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon when each of them visited her talk show. You can check out the video of those conversations here. Also, check out video of Rachael volunteering for City Harvest here. Good job, Rach!
