TV Alert: Rachael Ray on E! True Hollywood Story

E! Online's True Hollywood Story (that's THS to those of us in the know) is devoting an hour to Rachael Ray on Saturday, May 5, at 6 p.m. The show is usually all about digging up dirt and making fools out of the famous and infamous among us. Knowing this, Rach apparently decided to embrace the show and participate instead of watching at home and cringing. There's a sneak preview over at E! Online if you'd like to check it out. The little snippet there makes it seem like a very positive portrayal.

The Buffalo News reports that Rachael participated in an interview (which most stars don't do for THS) because the person who is filming the show is "an old, dear friend." So, she decided to be nice about it and actively participate. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

However, Rachael doesn't know exactly how it will turn out. While THS asked for permission to call her family and friends, she doesn't know what the tone will be. Maybe anticipating her critics, Rachael said: "I was raised by someone who says, '[You should] like people until you have a reason not to.' There’s still going to be a 'Rachael Ray Sucks' Web site tomorrow; I could call the lady who runs it and say, 'Hey, I’m really a pretty nice person,' and she’d still think what she thinks. You can’t be all things to all people, so why try?" Good idea, Rach.

AOL's Black Voices blog apparently got to check out the episode, since they have these highlights to offer:

Rachael Ray on being mugged twice by the same attacker – "He really pissed me off. He beat me up that time and then I said, 'I'm done.'"

John Cusimano, Rachael's husband – "It's hard to explain, you just hit it off with someone. You know, she had this very friendly sort of welcoming face and we just sort of gravitated to each other and went to a corner and just chatted the whole night."

Rachael Ray on cooking for The Today Show – "I was like, 'What am I doing here? I am a waitress from upstate New York, what qualification do I have to be showing all of America how to make soup?'"

Rachael Ray on joining the Food Network – "Here are my tapes. You can look at them if you want, but clearly I don't belong here. You guys are champagne, and I'm beer out of the bottle."

Misty Lane, Critic – "She really just became more over exaggerated, pretty much a cartoon of who she used to be."

Rachael Ray on her critics – "I can't debate anything they have to say about me. I am not a chef, I don't know how to bake, I do use store bought pierogi. I didn't make my own pierogi. I don't need to make the dumpling to feel fulfilled."

Terry Wood, President, Creative Affairs/Development, CBS – "I would say to her, 'You need to slow down. You need to slow down.'"

Rachael Ray on The Oprah Show – "I go out to do the segment and Oprah's in blue jeans and a cool like T-shirt thing and I was just like, 'I look like an Oprah stalker!'"

Bobby Flay – "I think of Rachael as America's lifestyle sweetheart. You know, she's the girl next door literally who just if she can't do everything, she's going to try hard to get it done."

Bob Tuschman, Programming Executive, The Food Network – "I have no idea where she'll be in ten years. I think anybody else you can plot out an end point. I don't think Rachael has an end point."

If you don't have a TiVo or TiFaux (as Jennifer calls it), you still have a couple days to go get one! Maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but I am pretty sure that the Rachael Ray True Hollywood Story will be waaaay more interesting that that silly Chefography. Will you watch?

  1. Check you out woman! You dug up some great dirt on the THS episode. Consider it DVR'd at our house for sure. I love how she doesn't let the naysayers get to her. Is Misty Lane the RRsux lady? Sounds like a 'porn name'!

  2. I hope it's positive. I am sure they will give Misty attention, but that's the press for you. I'll try to remember to watch it this weekend.

Oh, and I still don't have TiFaux yet!

  3. Everytime I hear "true story," I always think of the intro for MTV Real World. "True story!"

  4. Have you seen the new cover of this week's People? I can't wait to get this in my mailbox tomorrow.

  5. Cate - that's what happens when you are addicted to reality tv. We should start a support group.

Julie - That post goes up on Monday! Looks like it will be a fun article. They only have part of it online.

  6. "However, Rachael doesn't know exactly how it will turn out."

    Hmmmm...does this sound familiar? ;)

  7. Cakegrrl - ummm, yeah. Definitely rings a bell for me. The rest of you will be let in on this little inside joke soon!

  8. Not to worry Rachael Ray and fans. The "RRsux lady" has some haters of her own.

  9. After blogging for about a year, I am beginning to believe that everyone has haters!

  10. I thought the show was a pretty positive one and I was surprised. Way better than her chefography!

  11. After seeing the show last night and enjoying it, we can now start the "Misty Lane Sucks" website. No way will I give them my website hits.

Keep up the good work, Madeline and Rachel.

  12. With a community based on hatred, it's probably only a matter of time before they start turning on eachother.

  13. Kelly - I agree! It wasn't quite so sugar coated.

  14. I'm so sorry that I missed the show - I will have to catch a rerun.

Rachael is adorable. She grabs people's attention because it is obvious she has a heart.

  15. No worries, Jaz. They'll play it a million times!

  16. I missed it too, I'm sure I'll catch it again soon.

Yeah, I know Misty Lane has her share of haters. I think it's a huge waste of time personally.

I like that Rachael is grounded enough to just be like, meh, it happens. Good for her.

Oh, and Madeline- my mom is a huge Rachael fan now. She shares my distaste towards Giada as well. LOL!!

  17. I definitely don't hate her or her community. I just don't get it. I don't understand it enough to have strong feelings either way!

  18. Watching THS, Misty Lane seems like a real loser who wastes her personal time on hating a successful person who worked really hard to get to where she is today. I'm really surprised that Misty gets so much press for her petty hate site. Rachael Ray is down to earth and a real class act. My two cents...

  19. I hear what you're sayin' Brandon, but if we resort to name calling, we are just as bad as they are. I prefer to just try to keep positive (although I do have my weak moments when I do respond to them). For the most part, I just ignore them and stay positive. I don't have the time, energy or inclination to deal with people like that in my normal life, so why engage them on the internet?

Thanks for leaving a comment! Reading comments and responding to them is one of my favorite parts of having a blog, so thanks for contributing.
