TV Alert: Daytime Emmys

The Daytime Emmys are airing on Friday, June 15, on CBS from the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles. Rachael Ray is not just nominated, she's also a presenter. Just a reminder - Rachael's talk show is nominated for seven Daytime Emmys. The most important one is the nomination for Outstanding Talk Show Host, where she's competing against Dr. Phil, Ellen DeGeneres, Lisa Rinna and Ty Treadway (for Soap Talk), Tyra Banks, and the cast of The View.

She's also nominated for Outstanding Talk Show. In that category, her show is competing against Phil, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Tyra Banks Show, and The View. The remaining nominations are related to more technical stuff, including Outstanding Directing In A Talk Show, Outstanding Achievement in Lighting Direction, Outstanding Achievement in Main Title Design, Outstanding Achievement in Live & Direct To Tape Sound Mixing, and Outstanding Achievement in Technical Direction/Electronic Camera/Video Control.

Anyone want to take bets on whether she'll win any of these? While I have high hopes, her new talk show is up against well-established shows. I think this really is a "it's an honor just to be nominated" barfy moment, but I will be thinking good thoughts for Rachael and all the people that work so hard on her talk show.

To see the swag that Rachael and other presenters will take away from the awards, check out this article.

UPDATE: Rachael actually hosted the show! See what happens when I go on vacation? I miss all the good stuff!

  1. I caught the last 30 minutes or so of the show. I didn't think there was a host! An unseen narrator introduce the presenters as they were walking to the microphone. Rachael did introduce the last award of the show though.

  2. Yeah, looks like the title of host was mostly honorary, which would explain the lack of promotion about it.

  3. I watched virtually the entire show. I don't think she "hosted" in the true sense of the word. It was more like the Screen Actors Guild awards, where the same celebrity opens and closes the show. But, it's okay by me. She looked radiant and was in the moment, for sure.

  4. Jeff - that sounds about right. She certainly did look wonderful.

  5. Rachel, alto I consider myself a fan. A word to the wise for your personal assistant. Next time use body tape to enhance your figure.

The dress you wore to the Daytime Emmy's was not flattering at all.

Good luck on your next choice.

  6. Sonjam - a word to the wise - pay attention when you leave comments on blogs. This blog is written by me, Madeline, and not by Rachael Ray.

Also, her name is spelled Rachael, not Rachel.

    I thought she looked great.
