TV Alert: Rachael Ray's Open House, July 21

Rachael Ray got herself a new kitchen and she's sharing it with us on a special called "Rachael Ray's Open House." It airs on July 21, 2007, at 9:00 PM on the Food Network. Here's how they describe the special: "Rachael celebrates her newly remodeled kitchen by inviting over some of her best friends for a casual get-together." Sounds like fun to me, especially if we get some new recipes for entertaining, too.

  1. That isn't much of a build-up for the show. Is that Rachael's real-life apartment kitchen...or the newly remodeled backdrop for
"30MM"? (If it's the latter, I fully expect a kitchenful of TFN hosts, like Tyler, Sandra, Giada, Bobby, Alton...you know, the usual gang of suspects...not that there's anything wrong with that...and as far as I'm concerned, there isn't. If it's the former, it would be an interesting surprise, but not totally unexpected, since TFN is into probing the private lives of its star roster.)

  2. I know! I searched all over for more info, but that's all I could find. I think it's her home kitchen, not her 30 MM one, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

  3. I'm pretty sure it's her home kitchen. She mentioned that she and John recently redid it. Interested in seeing what it looks like.

  4. Me too - her house isn't that flashy, so it should be interesting.

  7. What a great show - I just got through watching it. As a newcomer to the program, this was a great introduction to informal entertaining and her personal presentation style. She's a natural! I can't wait to find the recipes listed on the network web site. There was a feeling of openness that made it really work for me. I'm inspired to do an open house of my own - thanks, Rachel and Johnny!

  8. So not what Cate and I expected, huh? It was in her 30-Minute Meals set!

The egg cups recipe is not on the food network site, but she did it on her talk show with italian sausage instead of chorizo. You can find that recipe here.

  9. Thank you for the polenta egg guy link. How about a link to the rice, green olive, etc. recipe?

  10. During her Open House, Rachel said we could get the recipes for every thing she made, but I can't find them anywhere. I would like the one for the Beef Tips.

  11. I saw the show last night (Saturday) and wanted some of the recipes, not just the polenta one. Does anyone know when those recipes will be posted? Thanks.

  13. They added a bunch of them to the link on the show - fyi. Madeline, are you sure it wasn't her house? It definitely LOOKED like the 30MM set, but she kept mentioning her neighbors, and there was a mention somewhere else (I think on her talk show) that she and John recently redid their kitchen.

  14. Cate - thanks for letting me know it was updated! I updated the post to show the recipes.

That was definitely the 30 MM set. It still has the same appliances and window, just the rest of the stuff changed. The neighbors were her real-life neighbors, but were just visiting the set.

  15. I was hoping it was a one-off funky special remodel of the 30MM set, but, alas, it is permanent. Not sure if the new episodes run first on the daily 2:30pm slot, but saw the same set design on this latest 30MM episode. Bring back the sliding cabinet with the glass doors and shelf!

  16. I know, Dre. I still can't decide if I like it or not.

  17. Whew, I'm not losing my mind...I watched the re-broadcast of the show and saw that Rachael had added about a cup of chopped spanish olives with pimientos at the end of the cooking time for the rice. (This is not mentioned in the recipe.) Then she stirred them in and removed entire rice mixture to a serving dish. The olives are what really caught my eye (sleepy as it was) the first time I watched the show.

Madeline thanks for all your efforts too.
